  • Hello! My name is Desiray Rushing, and I am proud to be part of the Long Middle School team. With 16 years of experience in education, I am passionate about creating a supportive, engaging learning environment where every student feels valued and capable of success.

  • Mr. Simpson is a good teacher because he sets a strong example for students, especially the boys. He always encourages them to make good choices and stay on the right path. He is also a great co-worker who is willing to step in and help whenever someone needs support.

  • Mathematics

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year.  I an honored to be one of your child’s 7th grade teachers. We have an exciting year ahead of us.   We will be studying and working on many new and exciting things this year.  We will do several types of graded activities each grading period in order to reach your child’s individual learning style.  We have very high expectations for your child and will do all that we can to ensure your child reaches those expectations.

    Homework:

    • Vital part of practicing and learning math.
    • Complete their homework each evening.
    • Assigned on the first day of the week and due on Friday.
    • Students will have the option of their homework online or on paper.
    • All work must be attached, unless they are told differently.
    • Graded based on completion and work shown.
    • Late homework will be accepted but students will lose points each day.

    Makeup work:

    • Students should ask for missed work the day they return.
    • Make up work will not be completed in class unless there is time.
    • Students will  be allowed one week (5 days) to complete make-up assignments except in cases of prolonged illness.
    • Students who miss tests or quizzes must make arrangements with the teacher to make them up.

    Tutoring:

    • Tutoring will be available after school until 3:45.
    • I will let you know what afternoon soon.

    Grades

Students will receive teacher observation each day to ensure that they are on task and understanding the information and following directions.  Student grades will be based on various activities and assignments in each class.  The following procedure will be used to record student progress:

All grades will be recorded in the grade book and in PowerTeacher.  Columns will be dated and labeled to indicate the type and name of the assessment.  Parents are able to access grades from home by using ParentPortal.

Re-test will be given at teacher’s discretion.

  • Hello everyone! I'm Ferdinard Muteh Chu, a Mathematics teacher from Africa, Cameroon. I have 16 years in education and 2nd year in LMS teaching 8th grade Math and Honors Geometry.

My classroom is a high energy space where every student participates, thinks boldly, and supports each other. Every student is valued, and every mistake is seen as a learning opportunity. Questions are encouraged, every voice matters and effort is always celebrated. We work together, stay engaged, and challenge ourselves to grow. Respect, curiosity, safety, collaboration and responsibility guide everything we do, making Math fun and meaningful.

  • Hello everyone! My name is Clara Morrison, and this will be my second year teaching at Long Middle School; however, I have approximately four years of classroom experience. I have a Master's degree in Education Technology and Instructional Design.

In my classroom, mistakes are part of the learning process, and I want every student to feel safe and encouraged to take risks and try. Teaching allows me to touch lives in meaningful ways, and I know that the care and support I provide as a teacher can have a lasting impact on students.
