Cheraw High Tribe Band Competition

Congrats to the LMS students (Dibby Midgley, Jaysa McLendon, & Peyton Taylor) who competed with the Cheraw High School Tribe today in McBee, SC. They finished first in their class with a superior rating and a third place finish on the day. Way to go!!!

Flu Shots Available

Flu shots will be offered to students in Chesterfield County. Staff from the health department will be at LMS in the coming weeks to give flu shots to students whose parents consent. There is no cost for this shot. If you would like for your child to get a flu shot at school, go to the website: http;// and enter 11301005 as your validation code. Complete the consent and submit to DHEC. If you are unable to complete the application, please contact Ms. Sellers, school nurse, at 843.921.1010. Homeroom classes are raising money for the LMS March of Dimes team. The winning home room gets a catered lunch, and all money raised goes to help every baby have a brighter future.

Dr. Craig J. Boykin visits Chesterfield County School District

Long Middle School's first-year teachers and mentors had the opportunity to receive some encouraging and inspiring words from Dr. Craig J. Boykin. Dr. Boykin spoke at the CCS Induction Meeting for first-year teachers. He shared his story from how he grew up as an at-risk student. Through hard work, he successfully went from a GED to a Ph.D. He now travels the country sharing his story. We would like to thank Nikki Miller for this great opportunity!

Chesterfield County Sheriffs Department visits LMS

Long Middle School, along with Chesterfield County Sheriffs Department, hosted an Awareness Knowledge Builder Session for our sixth-grade students Friday morning. The speakers were Officer Burns, Major Davis, Corporal Myers, Lt. Jordan, and Coroner, Kip Kiser. Sheriff James Dixon was also in attendance.

Mrs. Garris’ science classes have been working on a STEM challenge. In looking at the engineering design process, students were challenged to create the tallest tower using spaghetti noodles and marshmallows.
