Physical Education & Health
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to a new year with Long Middle School’s Physical Education Department. Our program seeks to establish opportunities for all students to develop the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to live a physically active lifestyle and maintain health-related fitness. Good nutrition and physical fitness are imperative to peak academic performance for students and for long term health.
Students will have the opportunity to be involved in a variety of movement experiences and fitness activities. Your help will be needed to encourage your child to work hard on fitness activities and also live an active and healthy lifestyle outside of class. Each week you will be asked to verify with a signature that your child is being active and keeping a fitness log that meets the criteria listed on the handout. We encourage you to participate with your child while performing these outside of class activities.
Many important documents were given to your child during their first day of class to share with you. These included:
1. Class Syllabus which includes rules, standards and policy procedures.
2. Health statement that should include any physical limitations, as well as, medications taken by your child.
3. Order form for your child’s P.E. uniform
