Long Middle School

e-Learning Day on Monday, March 16th

Posted Date: 03/15/26 (08:23 PM)

Chesterfield County School District will operate on an eLearning Day on Monday, March 16, 2026 due to severe weather expected in our area.  All schools and district offices will be closed.  All after school activities and athletic events scheduled for Monday are cancelled.

The National Weather Service is forecasting the potential for significant severe weather, including damaging wind gusts and possible tornadoes. Current forecasts indicate the primary window for severe weather may occur between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Closing schools allows the district to avoid having buses on the road during the time when severe weather is most likely.

The South Carolina Department of Education advises against school buses operating during sustained winds above 30 miles per hour or wind gusts above 40 miles per hour.

Elementary students should complete eLearning assignments posted on the district website. Families should visit www.chesterfieldschools.org, select Departments, Curriculum and Instruction, then eLearning.  Students should complete one task in each subject area and spend 20 to 30 minutes in IXL Reading and 20 to 30 minutes in IXL Math.  Printed copies will be provided on Tuesday for students without internet access.  Students will have five school days to complete assignments.

Middle and high school teachers will post assignments in Google Classroom by 10:00 a.m.  Students who do not have access to a Chromebook or other device will have five school days to complete assignments in order to be counted present.

Teachers will work remotely and will be available to answer student questions during virtual office hours from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Technology staff will assist with technology issues by email at ithelpdesk@chesterfieldschools.org.

Families should continue to monitor district communication channels for updates. The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
