7th GRADE Life SCIENCE

Welcome to Ms. D's Life Science Class for 2021-2022 school year at Long Middle School

A brief introduction: This is my 2nd year at Long Middle School.

I love science and learning new things, I am excited to be your teacher this year. I have a very diverse background, and have a passion for teaching and guiding the bright, inquisitive minds of tomorrow!

I am here to help and assist where I can, all you need to do is reach out to me.
This year we will be learning about the areas of Life Science.
The four core areas: 
*Classification and Conservation of Matter 
*Organization in Living Systems 
*Heredity – Inheritance and Variation of Traits 
*Interactions of Living Systems and the Environment

As we approach our investigations and learning, we will move through the scientific/engineering practices of:
1. Ask questions and define problems
2. Develop and use models
3. Plan and conduct investigations
4. Analyze and interpret data
5. Use mathematical and computational thinking
6. Construct explanations and design solutions
7. Engage in scientific argument from evidence
8. Obtain, evaluate, and communicate information

Whether you are joining the class in person or virtually each student will be responsible for their own learning.  As your teacher I am here to help you with your learning and guide you in your exploration of Life Sciences, it is up to you to put in the time and effort it takes to learn and understand.  Your time and work in class/at home and online will be tracked and will be part of your grade.

There will be updates given out periodically to confirm expected learnings, these will be posted to this page each quarter.  If you have questions or need some clarification - please feel free to reach out, I can call, email or virtually meet with you and your parent(s)/caregiver(s).

Thank you,
Ms. D
Note on Expectations
All class material is posted online, this is what is done in class and expected to be completed at home for homework.  It is the expectation for students to complete classwork and homework in a timely manner.  Any classwork that is not completed in class is expected to be completed for homework. If a child is out of school for any reason, including COVID quarantine, they have a Chromebook and are expected to continue with their work or make up their work as soon as possible.  If for some reason this is not possible - no internet connection, too sick to do school work - the teacher needs to be notified by the parent/guardian of this situation.
