Course Name: Keyboarding 
Course Description:
The beginning of the course provides an opportunity for students to master the skill of entering alphabetic, numeric, and symbolic information on a keyboard and a ten-key pad using the touch method of key stroking. Emphasis is placed on development of accuracy and speed, proper techniques, and correct fingering.  

 

Course Name: Computer Applications

Course Description: This course is designed to introduce students to software applications that are necessary to live and work in a technological society. The applications covered include word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation. 

 

Course Name: Integrated Business Applications

Course Description: This course of study is designed to teach the student computer concepts as related to processing data into useful information needed in business situations by using word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software. This course, when combined with Integrated Business Applications 2 teaches the introductory skills to prepare students for Microsoft Office(MCAS) Certification. Additionally, students should be prepared to sit for Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) Certification, Expert level, for Word and Excel. Emphasis also includes speed, accuracy, and production using proper keyboarding techniques.

Integrated Business Applications I

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

 

This course is designed to teach students software applications that are necessary to live and work in a technological society. The applications covered include word processing, database, spreadsheet, and presentation. Other content areas may include computer hardware, terminology, and concepts.

 

OBJECTIVE:

 

Given the necessary equipment, supplies, and appropriate software, the student will be able to successfully complete the standards necessary for national credentials.

Keyboarding is a required course for all students at Long Middle School. Successful completion of this course is required for entering eighth or ninth grade (a passing grade). This is a semester course. The cost is $3.00 which covers paper, keyboard covers, headphones and minor repairs to the computers.
