Long Middle School

Mathematics

My name is Sandy Perkins, and I will be your child's math teacher. I am excited for the upcoming 2017-2018 school year, and know that success is within our grasp if we challenge ourselves, and work together as a team. Effort on the part of each student, parent and teacher will be the key to accomplishing our goals of student achievement and a safe, engaging learning environment.

It is my pleasure to introduce myself to you.  I have been a math teacher here at Long Middle for 17 years.  I graduated from college at Columbia College in Columbia, SC.  I grew up all over the world being from a military home.  I am married and have two wonderful children, Colby, my son, and Chandler, my daughter.  I have 3 grandchildren.  I have two grandsons, Bryce and Talon .  I have one granddaughter, Emery.

I would like to welcome you and your child to eighth grade.  I am sure this will be your child’s best year ever.  Eighth grade can be a challenging year, but keeping up with homework, studying, and following school and district rules can greatly increase your child’s success.  I am here to help your child in any way that I can.  All I ask is that students work to their best ability and follow my rules and procedures.    As soon as your child experiences problems, he/she can come and see me to make arrangements for extra help before or after school.  Let’s not wait till the end of the 9 weeks.

Homework can be given Monday through Thursday.  Periodically there may be something that needs to be completed over the weekend.  It is very important that your child studies every night.  Math needs to be studied as well.  Students should do their best on each and every assignment.  Work should be neat and organized.

All work, including homework, will be done in pencil, or it will not be accepted.  Students must show their work on all homework, class work, quizzes, and tests, or it will not be accepted.
